Steers $2,290

The first Pukekohe sale of 2015 was very well supported and prices were very good indeed!

Large numbers of killable cattle were on offer and these sold extra well, with steers to $2,290, heifers $1,650 and boner cows $1,470.

Younger store cattle probably sold better than pre-Christmas with a very enthusiastic bench of buyers bidding for some very nice cattle.

Best weaner heifers sold to $680, steers $675 and 15 month heifers sold really well to $965.

The market at this time of year responds very quickly to weather and schedules drop as boner cows flood the freezing works.

Many prime cattle were killed prior to Christmas, so this should mean less are available later on and once the main flush of cows are killed, it is expected prices will be very strong again.
